Has Christianity Been Wrong About Torah For 2,000 Years? Pt. 1

The following is the first question in a series of questions that addresses whether Christianity should observe the Torah. Comments and questions are welcome. Also, please watch the video from Passion For Truth Ministries. It is very interesting and this is also where the questions come from.
  1. Has Christianity been wrong about Torah for 2,000 years?
-Christians have gotten most of it right.
-The word Christian means follower of Jesus.
-They already believe in keeping Torah because they keep 95% of the Commandments already.
We are not to conform to history, but we are to conform to the never-changing Biblical instructions.

2.  Isn’t keeping Torah legalistic?
-According to the Bible, legalism is working for Salvation. Most Christians don’t understand the Bible’s definition of legalism. No one says that the laws concerning adultery is keeping them in bondage. Laws are for your own good.
-After people in the Bible get saved, then they received instructions on how to live like God’s people.
-If you love me, you will obey my commandments. God’s love language is quality time.

3.  In Mark 7, is Jesus saying that it’s OK to eat unclean animals?
-Are all things clean? It was about how to keep the Torah. The Pharisees went up against Jesus and it was about washing hands before eating, Jesus said you put so much emphasis on tradition rather than the commandments of God.
-The Pharisees added so many laws and missed the point. Dietary instructions are in the law. It’s what comes out of your mouth, hence sinful desires, that counts but eating with unwashed hands doesn’t defile you. Matthew 15
-Jesus is the High Priest, what is His interpretation of walking out the Torah?

4. Does Acts 10 say we can eat unclean animals?
-God used symbolism because the interpretation given (Acts 10:28) is that Peter was about to preach the gospel to Cornelius and his family (Gentiles) and Peter was not to call any person unclean and common. Jesus cleansed everyone. Peter kept the dietary laws well after Jesus ascended to Heaven.

5. What about animal sacrifices?
-There are certain laws that we cannot keep because it’s simply impossible. The elements required to properly observe these laws don’t exist.
-The sacrifices continued well into the 1st Century and in Acts 21, Paul took a Nazarite vow and it required an animal sacrifice. He took a Nazarite vow to prove that he wasn’t preaching against God’s law.
-We can’t do it right now because there is no standing tabernacle in operation in Jerusalem.
-Jesus is the sacrifice and Hebrews says that animal sacrifices can never take the sins away and they are a shadow, symbolism about Jesus’s sacrifice. They point to what Jesus accomplished for us.
-Sabbath, Feast Days, and Dietary Instructions are what are applicable to today.
